The computer-generated sound track is produced by feeding the
Chinese text (either BIG5 or GB) as input to an experimental
program written by Bell Labs of Lucent Technologies. The output
is then edited using another program called Gold Wave. The quality of sound is far below that of the recording of a human speaker. But the potentials and possibilities are exciting. For sightless persons, reading any Chinese texts is now possible. |
