The only GPS system currently in operation worldwide is the
American
GPS System.
There are three new GPS systems being planned or under construction:
- GLONASS system by Russia
- Galileo system by the EU
- COMPASS system by the Chinese
Only the Chinese system is currently under construction and will
become operational shortly.
EU's plans for a GPS system has been planned for many years.
Unfortunately, for political and other reasons, it has failed
to be implemented as yet. Both Russia and Chinese have
dropped out, and the future of Galileo is now uncertain.
