Beijing's Rapid Bus Transit (BRT) opened on December 30,2005, is already
beginning to transform ttransportation in the crowded city.
Officials originally forcast that ridership on the system would reach its peak - 150,000 daily riders -
in 2007; however, the figures reached 130,000 on just the third day of operation.
The officials now forcast 150,000 in May, when nmbers will rise because of holiday travel.

Beijing's Bus Rapid Transit System has its buses run in its exclusive
bus lanes - so it is often faster than other cars on the street.
Currently the route is about 10 km long. There are 17 stops connecting eight residential areas having a total population of 200,000.
It runs from Qianmen to the 4-th Ring Road.
The interior is quite comfortable and air-conditioned.

The bus station stop is between the two BRT lanes. Riders must exit to the streets via an underpass.

The bus is very low. Easy to get on and off.
